Click on the Market Specification document to get an understanding of the South African multi-market model as defined in the Electricity Regulation Act (ERA) Amendment Bill.

The development of the Market Code is a crucial aspect of the new electricity supply industry in South Africa, with these rules set to shape the nation's future.

The Market Code creates and supports the trading and settlement rules and procedures for the purchase and sale of electricity by traders, retailers and participating generators.

Given that the introduction of a multimarket will mean a fundamental change to the electricity industry in South Africa, a proposal that is representative of the industry as a whole is vital.
