This guide booklet describes the process of change in order to accommodate Small Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) onto the South African Municipalities networks. It  summarises the approach of the SSEG support programme and references the available resources for municipalities and what steps they need to undertake.

This  Local Government Renewable Energy and Enregy Efficiency Strategy Guide provides a clear programme of action for local government to promote the development of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) in line with national policy direction and within local governance mandates. It also offers technical support, led by SALGA, to strengthen the capacity of municipalities to undertake this work.

This is an excel-based tool that calculates how municipal revenue is impacted by customers installing solar PV, as well as the business case for customers that install solar PV. The spreadsheet has 2017 Tshwane data included as an illustration, but should be updated for the particular municipality in question before use (Genesis, SALGA & GIZ, 2017).
