Advisor for Capacity Building, Team Lead for Strategic Communication

Elaine joined SAGEN in 2021 and holds the dual role of Advisor for capacity building and Team Lead for strategic communication. With an academic background that includes an LLM in Sustainability Law, an MSc in Hydro Science and Engineering, and a BSc in Geography, Elaine has a diverse skill set. In her previous role, she spent four years at the nexus of energy, water, and climate, training personnel at water and wastewater utilities across Jordan, Burkina Faso, Egypt, and Thailand on carbon footprint assessment and energy efficiency for climate mitigation. In her current capacity, Elaine collaborates closely with South African universities and other education providers to prepare the energy workforce for the impending changes in the energy sector. She also works diligently to facilitate access to vital renewable energy information and outreach.
