Senior Technical Advisor for Embedded Generation and Urban Energy Transitions
Sayuri is a Senior Technical Advisor within the SAGEN programme, responsible for coordinating the work on embedded generation and supporting the advancement of the South African energy transition. She holds a BSc Honours in Environmental Sciences and around nine years of project management and technical experience collaborating with all spheres of government, the private sector and academia on various renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development projects.
In her previous role, Sayuri worked for ICLEI Africa – Local Governments for Sustainability where she supported local and subnational governments across Africa with their just transitions and climate action planning, as well as improving access to finance. Sayuri was also employed at Eskom Distribution working on environmental management and governance issues. She is passionate about the intersectionality of social justice, sustainability and climate protection, and is deeply committed to the prospering of the South African energy sector through these pillars.
