Head of Component for Power Sector and Electricity Distribution Industry Reform
Sayuri is the Head of Component, responsible for coordinating the work on SAGEN Output 1 i.e. Power Sector Reform and Output 2 i.e. Electricity Distribution Industry Reform (EDI) Reform, steering the advancement of the energy transition in South Africa. She holds a BSc Honours in Environmental Sciences and more than a decade of project management and technical experience collaborating with all spheres of government, the private sector and academia on various sustainable energy, climate mitigation, energy reforms and sustainable development projects.
In her previous role, Sayuri worked for ICLEI Africa – Local Governments for Sustainability where she supported local and subnational governments across Africa with their just transitions and climate action planning, as well as improving access to finance. Sayuri was also employed at Eskom Distribution working on environmental management and governance issues. She is passionate about the intersectionality of social justice, sustainability and climate protection, and is deeply committed to the prospering of the South African energy sector through these pillars.
