Milestone Announcement: Just Energy Transition e-Learning Course Now Open for Enrolment!

The South African-German Energy Programme (SAGEN) implemented by GIZ, in collaboration with the South African Cities Network (SACN) and the National School of Government (NSG), is proud to announce the official launch of the Just Energy Transition (JET) e-Learning Course, a significant step forward in empowering local government to lead South Africa’s energy transition.

The course is now open for enrolment and will commence in August 2025.

About the course
This free, 14-week online course is designed specifically for municipal officials, planners, and stakeholders across local government. Fully self-paced, this e-learning course provides foundational knowledge and practical tools to guide municipalities through the transition to a low-carbon, inclusive, and economically sustainable energy future.

Participants will explore key dimensions of the Just Energy Transition, including governance, finance, energy justice, and local economic development, all aligned with national energy and climate commitments.
